Our Arusha-based guides and safari planners know Arusha National Park first-hand, and write this guide from experience on the ground.
Arusha National Park fees are charges set by Tanzania National Parks, known as TANAPA, that every visitor pays to enter the park and take part in its activities. The main charge is a conservation or entry fee per person for each 24-hour period, with lower rates for children and East African residents. Vehicles and guides pay their own entry fees, while walking safaris, canoeing and the Mount Meru climb carry additional activity, hut, rescue and ranger fees. Foot Slopes Tours and Safaris includes all current fees in your itemized quote and pays them on your behalf.
Fees are set by the park authority and change periodically; we always quote current official rates in your private itinerary.
| Fee Type | How It Is Charged | Notes |

View Package →Arusha National Park entry fees are set by Tanzania National Parks and charged per person for each 24-hour period inside the park. Rates differ for foreign non-residents, East African residents and citizens, with reduced rates for children and free entry for very young children. Because fees are reviewed periodically and taxes can change, we always quote the current official rates for your travel dates and include them in your itemized safari price, so there are no surprises at Ngongongare or Momella Gate.
Climbing Mount Meru involves several TANAPA fees on top of the daily conservation fee. Climbers pay a hut fee for each night at Miriakamba and Saddle huts, a rescue fee per climber for each trip, and a daily fee for the armed park ranger who must escort every climbing party. Guide and porter arrangements also apply. Because these charges are reviewed periodically, Foot Slopes Tours and Safaris quotes the current official rates and includes every required fee in your Mount Meru climbing package.
No, walking safaris and canoeing are optional activities charged on top of the standard entry fee. A walking safari in Arusha National Park requires an armed TANAPA ranger, and a walking fee applies per person. Canoe trips on Small Momella Lake are run under park rules and carry their own activity charge. We show these activities as separate, clearly itemized lines in your quote, so you can decide which ones to add and see exactly what your private safari price covers.
Tanzania's national parks use electronic payment systems, so cash is generally not accepted at park gates. On a Foot Slopes Tours and Safaris trip, our team pays conservation, vehicle, guide and activity fees in advance or through official channels, and your guide handles the paperwork at the gate. For Mount Meru climbs we also arrange hut, rescue and ranger fees before you start. This saves time at entry points and means you do not need to carry large amounts of money.
On a Foot Slopes Tours and Safaris safari, all standard Arusha National Park fees are included in your itemized quote: conservation entry fees, vehicle entry fees and guide fees. If you add a walking safari, a canoe trip or a Mount Meru climb, the related ranger, activity, hut and rescue fees are listed clearly as well. Entry is charged per 24 hours, so your guide plans arrival and exit times carefully, especially when the park is combined with other northern circuit destinations.
