Accommodation will be either at Ilboru Lodge or the Gran Melia Hotel, depending on your tour request. Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park After breakfast at the hotel, pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game drive. Tanzania’s third-largest National park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park, which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe, and zebra. Post the game drive/  after another game drive, you will head to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and overnight, where a delicious dinner awaits you.   Day 3: Tarangire – Ngorongoro Crater After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing for 5 -6 hours. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the largest unbroken calderas on the planet, with over 25,000 wild creatures in the caldera. There are more prides per capita than anywhere on earth. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five: lion, leopard, black rhino, elephant, and buffalo. It is one of the world’s most astonishing places and among the 8th wonders of the world, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq km with a depth of over 2000 feet.  The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers mountain forests, woodlands, grasslands, lakes, swamps, and two major rivers. A packed lunch will be served at a picnic site. Late afternoon drive out & back to Karatu town or similar. All meals included. Day 4: Ngorongoro – Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha After breakfast, your experienced safari guide will take you to the entry gates of Lake Manyara National Park. From the park’s entrance, the road winds through a groundwater forest area where baboons can be seen lounging in the trees and hanging out along the roadside. The famous tree-climbing lions inhabit the mahogany and acacia trees, and if you are lucky, you might spot them lazing on a tree branch. As you make your way out of the dense bushland onto the open grassy banks of the lake, you will see wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, and large buffalo in abundance, grazing away. The lake itself is home to a large number of birds thriving at the water’s edge. Over 400 species have been identified, and one of the highlights of today’s events is seeing the thousands of flamingos strolling around the lake. Between all this beauty, you have a lunch break at midday. Afterward drive back to Arusha, if you wish you may visit Mto wa Mbu market or any Masai market on the way before reaching Arusha in late afternoon. A moderately steep path leads to the Big Tree Camp (2780 m). Look out for monkeys and interesting birds along the way. The tents will be already set up and hot tea and washing water will be waiting. Meals included Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 2: Big Tree Camp (2780 m) – Shira Camp 2 (3900 m) Today’s long trek starts 7 Day Lemosho Route on a small trail which continues through the trees and gradually ascends to reach the Shira plateau. Enjoy the views of the mountain and plains below. The path continues to cross the Shira Ridge (ca. 3600 m) and you will stop for lunch at the Shira Camp 1 after another few hours. The last section (approximately 3 hrs), you will climb another 250 meters in altitude and pass the surreal Senecia-plants growing to over 8m in height. Reaching the camp after the long day, you will relax with coffee and tea and be nourished with a 3-course meal tonight. As the sun sets you might see the summit glowing in the afternoon sun. Meals included Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 3: Shira Camp 2 (3900 m) – Lava Tower (4640 m) – Barranco Camp (3960 m) You will gain 700m in altitude but descend to sleep at Barranco – 60 m higher than last night’s camp. This will help with acclimatization as you will go up to 4600 m before descending again. Today begins with a long uphill in the direction of the Lava Tower Hut (4640m) and you will notice how the landscape changes to a rocky alpine desert. Later, the path descends again to the Barranco Valley with its giant Senecias and Lobelias. After six to seven hours you should arrive at the most beautiful camp on the mountain – the Barranco Camp. Meals included Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 4: Barranco Camp (3960 m) – Karanga Camp (4035 m) Today will start with the daunting Barranco Wall. During 7 Day Lemosho Route soon you will realize it looks worse than it actually is, but there are tricky sections where you will need to hold on tight. Admire the views from the top. The rest of the route follows along the mountain ridge into the Karanga valley and out.You reach Karanga Camp after lunch and you will have fantastic views of the southern glacier of Kibo as well as of the Kibo summit. Meals included Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 5: Karanga Camp (4035 m) – Barafu Camp (4640 m) A few hours hiking through desolate and rocky moon-like landscape lies ahead. It will be a relatively easy day leading steadily uphill. The goal for today is the Barafu campsite on a narrow ridge in full view of Mawenzi peak. You will walk along a trail that passes through the afro-alpine dessert until you reach your destination for today –Barafu Camp at 4640 m. Use the rest of the day to relax and pack your daypack for tonight’s summit attempt. Supper will be served early; drink and eat enough if you can and try to sleep. You will be woken up around midnight to start your walk to the summit. Meals included Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Day 6: Barafu Camp (4640 m) – Uhuru Peak (5895 m) – Mweka Camp (3080 m) It is dark and cold as you set off just after midnight.
