8-Day Explore Tanzania  Safari Itinerary

An 8-day Tanzania safari adventure from Arusha typically includes visits to iconic national parks like Tarangire. Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti offer opportunities to spot the Big Five and experience diverse landscapes. The trip usually starts and ends in Arusha, with optional activities like walking safaris, Maasai village visits, and hot air balloon rides. An exhilarating 8-day Tanzania safari could focus on the Northern Circuit, including the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park. This itinerary allows for ample wildlife viewing opportunities and unique cultural experiences, making it a comprehensive and memorable adventure.
Day 1: Airport pick-up- Arusha Hotel

We will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (Arusha airport) by our driver and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. Here you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come. You’ll stay at the hotel in Arusha city we booked for your overnight. Arusha, also known as “A” Town by the locals, is situated at the foot of Mount Meru, Africa’s 5th highest mountain. The altitude gives the city a pleasant climate and a lush green environment. Arusha is not a particularly attractive city in itself and is regarded by many visitors as little more than a necessary stopover before their safari starts in earnest. BB included Mount Meru Hotel.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation. Drive you to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). Tarangire is best known for its elephant families, savannah, iconic baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and the life-giving Tarangire River. Animals gather at the river, and giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests are often seen. The park is also home to buffalo, zebra, and wildebeest. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators. Including the king, Simba, and her cousin, the leopard. From the open roof of the vehicle, you will be able to absorb the landscape and watch the wildlife later, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Country Lodge Karatu or Marera Valley Lodge

Day 3: Karatu to Central Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we will journey on heading up towards the fertile highlands where wheat, coffee, and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, we will be afforded a view of the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater before traveling onwards to the Serengeti National Park, which we will reach by midday. The Serengeti National Park is the largest in Tanzania, covering an astounding 15,000 sq km with diverse landscapes and habitats such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah, and mountains.

Here, the great migration of wildebeest, zebra, and antelope takes place. Depending on the season of your visit, we may have the opportunity to witness thousands of animals on their search for food and water. Arrive in time for lunch at Nabi gate and enjoy a late 2hrs afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. After an extensive game drive, we drive to the Seronera Valley for an evening meal and overnight stay in Serengeti tented camps.
Day 4: Serengeti Plain – Ngorongoro Crater

After a relaxing morning and an early lunch, you will have early in the morning start your game drive in Serengeti later back to drive you to picnic site for branch and hot lunch, Our driver and cook will load everything on the top of our safari jeep after then continue with the game drive while looking to be our of Serengeti to proceed to Ngorongoro for your affordable Tanzania Safari Holidays. Today, you will be doing a game viewing en route on your way from Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater. You will be in Ngorongoro Crater late in the evening, where the night will be spent outside the crater. Dinner and overnight are at Ngorongoro Tented Camp or Lions Paw Ngorongoro, or Embalakai Authentic Camps.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

Today, you will have an early breakfast and proceed directly to the crater floor, passing through the slopes of forested areas, but the landscape changes to savannah dotted with the occasional acacia tree. You will do a tour down the Ngorongoro crater for a five-to-six-hour crater tour with a picnic lunch down the crater. The wildlife here is breathtaking, and if you are lucky, you might spot the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard).

The crater is also home to warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, hyenas, and many more. After a game viewing and a picnic lunch, you will leave the crater in the afternoon and head to Mto Wa Mbuu for dinner and an overnight stay. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest volcanic caldera. It was formed during the massive explosion of a volcano once higher than Kilimanjaro some 2 to 3 million years ago. The crater has a total area of 304 sq km, is 600m deep, and has a diameter of 20km. Dinner and overnight at Country Lodge Karatu or Marera Valley Lodge
Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha

After breakfast at the campsite, you will continue with a full day of game drive in Lake Manyara National Park with a packed lunch. Safari Holidays in Lake Manyara National Park. The lake occupies a large area of the park, the forest starts just when you cross the park gate along the base of the Great Rift Valley, and a hot spring to the west of the park.

The park is home to tree-climbing lions, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, troops of baboons, flamingos, ostriches, Egyptian geese, and more. After your picnic lunch, continue with afternoon game drives in the evening. Foot Slopes Tours and Safaris, Exciting Tanzania Safari, will drive you to the Mount Meru Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Arusha – Kilimanjaro (Mandara Hut)

At Day 7: Pick up from Arusha – Marangu gate. Trek from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut and descend back. Pick up at the hotel in Arusha at 7:00 am after breakfast. Depart with packed lunch boxes plus mineral water. We will transfer you from Arusha to Marangu gate, which will take almost a 2-hour drive. After reaching Kilimanjaro National Park’s eastern entrance, Marangu Gate (1,860 m/6,046 ft).

You will have the quick formality of registering the climbing permits and registering with the rescue service, then you will start trekking up to Mandara Hut (2,700 m/8,858 ft ). The trekking route includes a passage through the rainforest where tropical showers are highly probable, so we recommend taking raincoats.

When you reach the camp, you will be provided with lunch boxes and mineral water. After lunch, you can take a hike to the beautiful Maundi Crater nearby. It will take about 30 minutes, after which you will start your descent down to the exit of the park – Marangu gate. There, our driver will pick you up and drive you to your hotel in the town of Arusha. Mount Meru Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer you to the Airport (End of safari in Tanzania)

After breakfast in the hotel, we will transfer you to the airport to take a flight back home or to the next safari destination, you’re planning for yourself. This will be the end of your tour and safari with us.
