Embark on an unforgettable 8-day Tanzania wilderness safari that takes you to some of the country’s most iconic destinations. Begin your journey at Lake Manyara National Park, where diverse wildlife and tree-climbing lions await.
Next, venture into the renowned Serengeti National Park, famous for the annual wildebeest migration and incredible predator sightings.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife haven teeming with animals. Experience the rich cultural heritage of the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes near Lake Eyasi.
Finally, explore Tarangire National Park, known for its vast elephant herds and picturesque baobab trees. This safari promises thrilling game drives, breathtaking landscapes, and encounters with both wildlife and indigenous cultures.
An 8-day Tanzania wilderness safari covering Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, and Tarangire sounds like an incredible adventure! Here’s an overview of what you can expect from each destination:
Upon arrival at either Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport, you’ll be greeted by your safari guide and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for the exciting journey ahead.
On the second day, you’ll drive to Lake Manyara/Tarangire National Park, known for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to spot a variety of animals, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and the famous tree-climbing lions. You can also explore the park’s birdlife, as it’s a haven for numerous bird species. Overnight stay at a lodge/camp near Lake Manyara.
After breakfast, you will start your journey ahead towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.
Head to the Central Park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the Park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive in time for lunch at Nabi gate and enjoy the late 2hrs afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight stay in the accommodation choose.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day in different parts of the Serengeti! Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. The central Serengeti offers superb game viewing all year due to its abundance of resident animals. The Seronera River Valley in particular is a “must see” on every safari regardless of the specific month of travel.
That said, game viewing in this area of the park is at its best during the dry season (June-November) as resident animals are more concentrated in the immediate area due to the lack of water on the plains. Resident herbivores include impala, buffalo, hippo, warthog, topi, hartebeest, and giraffe. Resident carnivores include lion and leopard. Dinner and overnight stay in the accommodation choose.
On this day, we suggest a very early wake-up call in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you’ll ever witness. After the game drive, we’ll return to the camp for a rewarding brunch and then proceed to en route game to Ngorongoro, the 8th Wonder of the Natural World.
The crater spreads for 102 sq miles and has 2,000 ft high walls, making it virtually Noah’s ark. It inhabits almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It’s one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black rhino.
The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It’s also famous for its elephants which, are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World. Dinner and overnight at rim of crater.
Today, you will have early breakfast and proceed directly to the crater floor for a 5-6hrs crater Tanzania safaris tour with a picnic lunch down the crater whereby you will be able to see all the “Big Five” if your lucky enough. dinner and overnight
