Ultimate 5 Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Experience the Best of Tanzania Safari in just 5 days on the Northern Circuit. Day one begins at Lake Manyara, where tree-climbing lions await. Days two and three unfold in the iconic Serengeti, witnessing the Great Migration. The adventure peaks on days four and five at the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO site teeming with diverse wildlife. This compact journey ensures an unforgettable exploration of Tanzania’s northern gems in just five thrilling days.

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, around 8:30 am your safari guide will collect you from your accommodation in Arusha and drive you to Lake Manyara National Park. A Lake Manyara Park is a relatively small but diverse park, 120 kilometers west of Arusha. The park’s namesake is a shallow, salt lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons and is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species.

On your exploration of the park, you will see monkeys, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant and with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab dotted cliffs. After a full day in the park, you will drive to campsite/tented lodge camp  where you will be able to relax and enjoy dinner and have an overnight.

Day 2: Lake Manyara to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will start your Tanzania safaris head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.

We head to the Central Park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the reach wildlife habitats in the Park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch at Nabi gate and enjoy the late 2hrs afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

Day 3: Central Serengeti National Park 

After breakfast, you will have a full day of Safaris in Tanzania game viewing at Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti, Tanzania’s largest National Park, covers nearly 6,000 square miles of grassland plains, Savannah, kopjes, hills, woodlands, and River line forest systems serve as critical water sources and are often excellent sites for wildlife viewing. After a relaxing morning and an early lunch, you will have an early morning game drive in Serengeti National park for your Tanzania safaris top destination where you can spot the Big5 if you are lucky enough. Later back to the campsite for a branch and hot lunch, Our driver and cook will load everything on the top of our safari jeep after then continue with the game drive while looking to be out of Serengeti to proceed to Ngorongoro.

Today, you will be doing a game viewing en-route during your way from Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater. You will be in Ngorongoro Crater late in the evening where the night will be spent on the crater rim.
Dinner and overnight will be at Ngorongoro Campsite/lodge

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater back to Arusha

Today, you will have early breakfast and proceed directly to the crater floor for a 5-6hrs crater Tanzania safaris tour with a picnic lunch down the crater whereby you will be able to see all the “Big Five”.
