Enjoy surprising contrasts on a safari holidays in Namibia, Connect with nature through amazing wildlife adventures
You will be met by a tour guide from Nali Safaris at your hotel, and your spectacular holiday journey begins as you proceed on a scenic drive road via the beautiful landscapes and mountain views of Naukluft mountain range to reach the Sesriem area where you will stay for a night. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.
This morning, you will rise very early in the morning before sunrise to visit the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei, reputedly the highest sand dunes in the world. If you are feeling energetic, you can climb to the top before returning to your lodge for a well-deserved rest! Do not forget your camera. The scenery is truly extraordinary. After lunch en route, you will travel northwest to the seaside town of Walvis Bay and Swakopmund located on the Skeleton Coast. Leaving the dune fields far behind, you will soon be back into the mountain desert. You will cross the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse both the Gaub and the Kuiseb pass, driving down to the dry riverbed at the bottom of the canyon before climbing up the other side, watching the spectacular desert landscape unfold before you. From the mountains, you will cross the desolate “Namib gravel plains” before reaching the coastal sand dunes at the port town of Walvis Bay. You will stop for a picnic lunch beside the ocean, and there will be time to see the flamingos and other bird life in the Walvis Bay lagoon before continuing the now short drive into Swakopmund. Breakfast is included, and lunch will be served en route. Dinner will be at your own expense.
Today is a free day. The idea is to allow time for everybody to do their own thing. Swakopmund is a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach (although the Atlantic there is quite cold), and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum, and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund.Alternatively, there are various optional activities that can be arranged. These include airplane and micro-light flights over the desert, scenic drives, fishing trips (both from the beach or in a boat), four-wheel motorcycle (quad bike) trips into the desert and over the sand dunes around Swakopmund, sand boarding trips (also in the dunes), skydiving, surfing, birdwatching, and many more.Your tour guide will discuss all the possible options with you before you reach Swakopmund and will offer to make bookings in advance of your arrival. Breakfast is provided, but lunch and dinner are at your own expense.
You will leave the coastal town early in the morning to Etosha National Park. Etosha is home to four of the big five (elephant, rhino, leopard, and lion) as well as a vast quantity of game and birdlife. You will spend three nights in bungalows inside the park at the rest camps, which all have floodlit waterholes for excellent night-time game viewing. Morning and afternoon game drives are included daily in your package. Dinner and breakfast are provided.
You will travel along the vast salt pan, stopping at various waterholes and game viewing spots along the way in the park. As you continue to your overnight stop, you are certain to see plenty of wildlife and eerily beautiful scenery. Dinner and breakfast are provided.
After breakfast, you will exit the park on your way to Windhoek and continue on a good road. You will have time to stop in Okahandja Town, home to Namibia’s largest wood-carving market. The stalls are operated on a co-operative basis by the local community, and the market is a perfect place to do last-minute shopping for truly Namibian souvenirs. You should arrive back in the capital in the mid-noon, and you will be dropped off at the accommodation or to Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH) for your outbound flight.
